Inside the diaries of our planner Barbara

“I met Marta and Edgar while we were exploring Sardinia. Far and wide, searching for the place that could give them the right vibes… the place where they could feel “at home”.

If it’s true that couples choose Sardinia for its sea, it’s equally true that the island offers beautiful alternative settings; for them, the perfect location was in the hills of Sassari… a long tree-lined avenue and a stone farmhouse surrounded by fields.

Our journey began in those days, and in the following months, a great understanding turned into a relationship built on trust… a solid and essential foundation for the planning and design of every event.

Over time, I learned to understand their wishes and needs: a “big celebration” with a lively atmosphere, enriched by the presence of guests from different nationalities: Marta’s Sardinian and Spanish family, Edgar’s Peruvian relatives, and many South American friends.

Anticipating such a lively atmosphere, I envisioned a vibrant, summery, and intense design!

The idea of incorporating elements from Peruvian culture was immediately a great source of inspiration for me. Textile art, in particular, is one of the oldest traditions in Peru, and the design began to take shape from the patterns of typical Andean fabrics, with their vibrant colors and geometric designs.

Drawing inspiration from the colorful patterns of the textiles, I chose a single element, the triangle, and selected orange as the “guiding” color, pairing it with red and fuchsia, which became the leitmotif of the event. The triangle reappears as the backdrop for the ceremony, a further reference to Peru and its ancient pyramids; a symbolic and perfect shape.

Three points, three colors… everything would be in harmony!

We carefully crafted many handmade details: tassels in the color palette to embellish the chandeliers, colorful triangles to decorate the napkins and create the table numbers and small tags for the seating chart, adorned with handmade pendants using Peruvian fabric beads.

These elements were thoughtfully designed and created specifically for a completely custom result, which has always been what makes Elisa Mocci Events’ designs unique.

And then there was music, hugs, many tears, and amidst the beautiful speeches from friends and family, the emotion of Marta and Edgar as they exchanged vows—hers in English, his in Spanish.

Around them, the dry fields of a hot summer made the vibrant flowers stand out, a fundamental complement to this design and the perfect backdrop for photos of the couple and their families (all dressed strictly in the color palette… a delight for every designer’s eyes!).

The sunset during the couple’s photoshoot was just as we had hoped; Marta was radiant and elegant, with her updo and flowers that highlighted her “Spanish vibe.”

Edgar, elegant and shy in front of the camera, wearing a tailored suit and hat… as Marta loved to say, “a true Peruvian Hugh Grant.”

The table featured the flavors and typical dishes of our island, Sardinia; from pane carasau to fregola and malloreddus… Sardinia presented itself to the international guests with its delicacies and the hospitality it is known for.

The union of the two families, and the meeting of the two cultures, reached its peak during the long final speech from our emotional bride, who recalled her childhood in Sardinia and spoke about how important the words “home” and “family” were to her. She shared how she had wished, on this very important day, to bring Sardinia and Peru together around a joyful table, and later onto the dance floor until the early morning light.

As the planner of this event, I was reassured that building a relationship of trust with clients is the foundation upon which everything else is built, from choosing vendors to selecting the design and making last-minute decisions… yes, because even in the most successful events, there can be small unforeseen issues or second thoughts!

On the morning of the event, the ceremony location had become uncomfortable for the guests due to recent rains. I called the couple and suggested we move the setting. “We trust you completely, so if you think we should change it, let’s do it,” were the words I was hoping to hear, which gave me and my trusted team the energy we needed to adjust the plan on the fly and achieve the best result for our couple and the final design!

Marta and Edgar’s event was, in one word, “precious,” the perfect combination of originality and sophistication, genuine emotions and family warmth, and complete trust in our work. When all these elements come together, even the photos manage to express pure joy”.

“We reached out to the EME team a year ago because we had decided to organize our wedding in Sardinia, and living in the United States, it would have been impossible to plan everything perfectly for our international guests without help. We had seen their style through social media, but nothing could have prepared us for the level of professionalism, attention to detail, and passion that the entire team demonstrated throughout the event preparation. From the very first meeting, Elisa listened to our preferences and understood that Barbara would be an excellent WP for us. From there, the team offered us a range of personalized services, including an initial venue scouting trip that we could do while visiting Sardinia. Already at that first step, Barbara understood our needs, guiding and advising us impeccably, giving us a vision of what could be achieved.

We greatly appreciated the clarity with which she explained all the details (including costs, logistics, pros and cons), but most of all, we always felt that Barbara and the EME team were working for us and in our best interest. This created a blind trust in her, making the following months a truly unique experience. The entire event organization was punctual and orderly, so we never felt stressed. At the same time, the creative aspect left us speechless. From the first moodboard, Barbara and the designers offered us more than we could have hoped for, and it was pure fun choosing between so many beautiful options.

All the professionals we met during the menu tasting, makeup, and hair trials made us feel incredibly calm thanks to their professionalism, and we truly felt we were in great hands. Then the big day arrived, and what can we say, the photos speak for themselves. We enjoyed every moment from the very first instant, and honestly, the result surpassed every expectation. One of our guests told us, ‘There’s so much of you and Edgar in this wedding,’ and we believe that perfectly sums up the atmosphere that was created that evening. The colors, the music, the ceremony setup, the little details on the table—all came together to create a magical moment that we will never forget. None of this would have been possible without Barbara, Adriana, and the entire EME team, and we will be eternally grateful! Barbara, we love you ❤️ your professionalism, understanding, and dedication made this a unique experience for us! We can’t wait to plan our next event together. See you soon!”
